What sets BDK Parfums apart from other niche houses?
BDK Parfums describes itself as an independent perfumer-creator house in the Palais Royal district of Paris. It was founded by David Benedek, whose family's history in perfumery goes back to the boutique his grandparents opened at the corner of rue Royale and rue Saint-Honoré.
Three things on the house's own account set it apart from most niche peers.
The first is how each fragrance starts. Every BDK Parfums fragrance begins with the choice of a single raw material, which becomes the starting point of the creation. The Collection Matières takes the idea furthest: there, the house says, the raw material is the very essence of creation.
The second is where it is made. All of the house's perfume concentrates are made in the Grasse region, and the bottle, cap, label and box are all made in France. The bevelled bottle comes from a master glassmaker in Normandy, the cap from a traditional silversmith in the Paris region as a tribute to the dome of the Grand Palais, and the label is applied by hand.
The third is the address. The house's Paris boutique is at 312 rue Saint-Honoré, the name it also gives to one of the eau de parfums we hold.
